Blackdyke Farm was established over 30 years ago by the current owners John and Anne Collier, who have continued to invest in upgrading and enhancing what is one of the most highly rated riding schools and competition centres in the region.
More than 40 horses and ponies are stabled on the busy yard, where a team of qualified and enthusiastic staff provide riding lessons and stable management training for a large number of clients each week. Beginners are initially taught on a one-to-one basis in a lunge lesson, before joining a class ride on a day and at a time that is mutually convenient, with the aim of developing ability and skills.
Alongside daily riding lessons for all ages and ability from seven years upwards, clients enjoy training for dressage, show jumping and cross country on the capable and athletic horses and ponies owned by Blackdyke Farm. More advanced riders are also welcomed and can ride one of Blackdyke Farm's many schoolmasters, or bring their own horse or pony to lessons in one of the two indoor arenas. Visiting trainers and instructors also host clinics.
There is a busy schedule of affiliated and unaffilated Competitions all year round and a vibrant Centre Pony Club branch. Other fixtures include Judge Training courses hosted by several sporting bodies and societies. There are also training days, lecture demonstrations and more specific programmes aimed at instructors and other specialists working in the equine industry.
A welcoming Bistro serving hot and cold food and drinks for competitions and some other fixtures, together with a well-stocked Tack Shop enhance still further the experience of riding at Blackdyke Farm.
Blackdyke Farm holds a current Riding Establishments Licence in the name of owners John Ian Collier and Anne C Collier, number RE03.
